Get Acoustic Guitar Lessons for Beginners
through Advanced Levels

Get private acoustic guitar lessons with The Music Teachers Network! There are many different kinds of guitar, including acoustic, electric and bass.  We recommend beginners focus their private guitar lessons on the acoustic guitar.  This instrument provides a good foundation for learning to play notes and chords, while also building finger strength and dexterity that can be leveraged into other forms of guitar.  At The Music Teachers Network, we provide top instructors for private guitar lessons in your home including acoustic guitar lessons for beginners, as well as lessons for intermediate and advanced players.

Learn to Play Guitar: Getting Started

  • Who Takes Lessons?  Our private music lessons attract families that prefer the comfort, privacy and convenience of in-home guitar lessons with engaging instructors

  • How Much Time per Week?   Many of our acoustic guitar lessons for beginners are taken by kids and teens.  Two siblings often share a 60 minute lesson, each taking 30 minutes.  Single children and children over the age of 12 take 45 minutes to learn to play guitar each week

  • Group or Private Guitar Music Lessons?   What’s most important is the hands-on nature of the guitar teacher to carefully move your hands into the correct positions and set up the chords for you as you learn to play guitar.  Guitar is a very physical instrument.  Private guitar lessons are optimal for beginners

  • What do We Buy?   It's best to start kids out on a 3/4 sized acoustic guitar.  We recommend the Taylor BT1 & BT2 models for kids 12 and under.  For teens, we recommend the Fender Starcaster, Yamaha FG730S or the Taylor 110 Dreadnought.  You'll also need guitar strings, picks, a capo and battery operated metronome (440 pitch) for tuning. To make it easy, we’ve added these items to our online store operated by Amazon.com. Beware: while discount stores have cheap guitars, the instruments do not hold their tuning, so even if you play correctly, it sounds wrong.  This is incredibly frustrating in beginner guitar music lessons
